Sports isn’t optional | Suresh D | Heroes of EduSports

There aren’t many kids India that get the right exposure and support to pursue sports during their growing up years. I would count myself in one of the lucky ones who got a great PE teacher at school and parents as supportive of sports as they could be.

I believe that there is no such kid who is not ‘the right fit’ for sports. Every child can, and must play in his/her own capacities.

When I joined EduSports and started to train younger kids at school, I was discomforted by the fact that there were students who were not interested to go out and play! It seemed borderline unbelievable to me.

In order to get them interested, I opened up the sentinels for them and asked them to play whatever they felt like! Instead of just giving commands, I started to play along with them. I realised that the vibe of the game cannot be pumped in from outside. Instead, the energy could be maintained by being in the game. Soon they started to build a rather friendly equation with me. During our conversations, I also educated them about the benefits of playing multiple sports.

The results of my efforts were outstanding. I received much appreciation for this from the school administration and also the parents.
