Thanks to my father’s job in Indian Air Force, I have been in almost every state of the country and have many sports jerseys as I kept playing whatever came my way.

Whenever we used to relocate to a new place, I used to build friendship with sports. My playing out became my identity and social currency everywhere.

Sports has given me everything- a supportive family, my education, career and my husband too. 

My father was a football player and the biggest influence in my life. I had started playing basketball, handball, netball and all other games when I was 11 years old.

We are all sportsperson at heart; I believe the challenge is to stay one as life hits you. I am lucky to have found a job that helps me stay one. My highest priority is sports and physical fitness. I hit the gym in the evening after work because I love to stay fit. At work, I focus on my students and after that it is my body that I have to discipline and teach.

Every time I brought home a medal or trophy in sports, my parents swelled with pride. Despite not being highly educated, they supported me to pick up sports as my career. Maybe they loved the fact that I was being recognized for my athletic dexterity beyond the boundaries of school and college campus. They wished that I would continue being their star daughter, bringing accolades home.
